(4/16/20)

At Smile Beautiful Dental, we are committed to ensuring the well-being of our employees and patients. We would like to provide an important update around coronavirus (also known as COVID-19).

Mayor Bowser has extended the District state of emergency order until at least May 15.

We are here for you! We are open for emergencies on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00-3:00.  If you have a dental emergency, please call Dr. Dan Jones at 703-864-2619 or email to [email protected].

Prevention is our priority at this time, especially during cold and flu season. Common coronaviruses can cause symptoms similar to a common cold, such as fever, cough, sore throat, and feeling unwell. The symptoms that are currently being seen with the current coronavirus infection are fever and respiratory symptoms, such as cough and shortness of breath. DC Health continues to recommend the same precautions that help to prevent the spread of those common illnesses:

  • Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when feeling sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in a trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Wear a mask when outside.

We are ensuring that all bathrooms and operatories are stocked with soap and have hand sanitizer, as well as maintaining custodial protocols for cleaning and disinfecting. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a helpful hand washing resource page with activities for families and videos in English and Spanish.

We are monitoring the situation and working closely with DC Health and other District agencies on emergency preparedness procedures, as well as following guidance from the CDC regarding planning for a coronavirus outbreak.

Sincerely,
Drs. Daniel P. Jones, DDS and Leslie-Anne Fitzpatrick, DMD

(4/7/20)

The last few weeks have been very difficult for all of us, as we try to adjust to our “new normal” in life and at work amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

At Smile Beautiful Dental, we are continuing to follow recommendations from the ADA, CDC, the D.C. Dental Society and D.C. Department of Health, D.C. Board of Dentistry. We are doing our part in helping flatten the curve. It is important that we all thoroughly understand the risks of treating patients, the need to continue treating patients with emergency oral health issues, so they do not present to hospital emergency room departments, and the realities of what PPE is available to health care personnel.

The office is open to cover DENTAL EMERGENCIES from 10AM to 3PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Dental emergencies include trauma, dental pain, bleeding, swelling or active infection. No hygiene (cleanings) or elective treatment will be performed. We will continue to update you if the situation changes.

If you experience a dental emergency please call Dr. Jones at 703-864-2619.

For all other questions and concerns please call us at 202-999-3746.

We will contact you soon to reschedule routine hygiene appointments. If you are already scheduled for an urgent issue, we will contact you before your appointment to discuss your health status, health screening protocols and confirm whether the appointment should be kept. Of course, please call us right away if you have a dental emergency or need immediate care.

We miss all of you and looking forward for seeing you, once the practice reopens. Stay healthy and safe!

With best wishes,

Drs. Jones and Fitzpatrick, and the Smile Beautiful Dental Team
